NDE – Near Death Experience
I was on the Death Line...
But God Allowed
My Return to Tell
Thousands Report, But Few Understand.
Near-death experiences (NDEs) are intense experiences that occur in situations of extreme risk, such as cardiac arrest, deep coma, or unconsciousness. Many report seeing light, tunnels, deceased people, judgment, or an inexplicable peace.
The Border Between Time and Eternity
In the case of Alan Oliveira, the NDE he experienced during his medically induced coma revealed a real spiritual dimension—with encounters, trials, heavenly visions, and spiritual battles. This experience was not a product of the mind, but a remarkable spiritual experience that led to the creation of Healed in Christ Project.
How Do I Know if I Had an NDE?
Universal Signs Recognized in Near-Death Experiences (NDE):
Many NDE reports share similar elements, regardless of religion, culture, or country. These signs are documented by medical researchers, neuroscientists, and consciousness scholars:
- Feeling of deep peace or disconnection from physical pain
- Perception of being out of body, seeing one's own body from the outside
- Passage through tunnels or darkness with movement towards light
- Encounters with luminous beings, deceased family members or spiritual entities
- Panoramic review of life, with emotional or moral evaluation of actions
- Message or choice to come back to life, by mission or task to be accomplished
-
Lasting inner transformations, as an increase in compassion,
loss of fear of death and spiritual changes
NDE is considered by many scientists to be a real and measurable phenomenon of human consciousness in borderline states of life.
What if it were you? Are you ready for eternity?
Your life doesn't end with your last heartbeat. There is a God who loves you and wants to reveal your purpose beyond death. Today is the day of salvation.
NDE stands for Near-Death Experience, a phenomenon documented by thousands of people worldwide. It occurs when someone is clinically considered to have no vital signs (or is on the verge of death) but returns to life with vivid memories of what happened "on the other side." These often include: exiting the body, seeing intense light, profound peace, encounters with spiritual beings, or even scenes of judgment.
Even before being induced into a coma at Vila Franca de Xira Hospital, I was spiritually transported to heavenly and hellish realities. I saw the Kingdom, underwent judgments, met apostles and angels, and heard God's voice calling me by name. What I experienced confirms everything the Bible reveals about eternity. My NDE was not just a vision—it was a mission with an eternal purpose.

Types of NDEs (Common Classifications)
Experts have identified different types of NDEs,
based on elements reported by thousands of people around the world.
These types are not exclusive to the Christian faith and arise in various spiritual or cultural contexts:
Positive (or Celestial) NDE
Feelings of peace, light, unconditional love, and encounters with beings of light. Often reported as a transformative and serene experience.
Negative (or Horror) NDE
Perceptions of darkness, loneliness, screams, or the presence of frightening entities. Some people feel judged or punished. This type is less commonly reported, possibly due to fear or trauma.
Neutral or Sensory NDE
Out-of-body sensations, auditory or visual perceptions, but without associated spiritual interpretations. Often reported as "too real to be a dream."
Life Review NDE
An intense and vivid recap of one's entire life in seconds. Some people feel empathy for the people they've hurt or helped, as if they were experiencing those emotions all over again.
Mission or Calling NDE
The person returns to life with the conviction of having a spiritual, social or family mission, purpose or responsibility.
NDE with Prophetic Visions or Revelations
Some people report receiving information about the future, themselves, or the world. These cases often spark debates between science and spirituality.
Incomplete or Interrupted NDE
The person begins to experience NDE symptoms but is quickly pulled back, never experiencing the full process. Still, many report strong emotional impacts.
Notice:
Alan Oliveira's personal experience includes elements of Mission, Celestial, and Judgment NDEs, as reported in his testimony. However, the NDE phenomenon is diverse and can occur in believers, atheists, agnostics, children, or adults, anywhere in the world.

Frequently Asked Questions About NDEs
Do you have questions about what a Near Death Experience is?
Here you'll find technical, spiritual, and testimonial answers about a phenomenon experienced by thousands of people around the world, including the real-life testimony of Alan Oliveira.
1. What is an NDE (Near Death Experience)?
NDE (Near Death Experience), is a profound experience experienced by people who have been clinically dead or very close to death. The person may report out-of-body consciousness, spiritual visions, a sense of peace, passage through tunnels, encounters with beings of light, or even life reviews. Although still debated by science, it is recognized as a real phenomenon by many medical institutions.
2. Is NDE recognized by medicine?
Yes. Doctors, psychologists, and researchers recognize the phenomenon as real, even if the explanation still varies. Medicine classifies NDEs as a neurological, spiritual, or psychological response of those who have experienced altered states of consciousness, such as a deep coma, cardiac arrest, or traumatic experiences.
3. Do all NDErs see the same thing?
No. Experiences vary greatly. Some people report intense light and peace; others, dark regions and fear. There are similarities, such as the sensation of leaving the body and encounters with entities. Studies show that personal beliefs influence, but do not completely determine, the experience.
4. Is NDE exclusive to Christians?
No. NDEs occur in people of all religions, even those with no stated faith. However, many Christian accounts point to experiences compatible with the Bible, such as visions of heaven, hell, judgment, and encounters with angels. Alan Oliveira's testimony is a profoundly Christian example.
5. What are the signs that someone has had an NDE?
Some signs include:
- Unusual sense of peace after trauma
- Absence of pain
- Crossing through a tunnel
- Life review
- Presence of light or spiritual figures
- Feeling of returning to the body
- Seeing one's own body from the outside (out-of-body experience)
- Vivid memories of a “different place”
- Radical change in values and life purpose
- Report of spiritual encounters during coma or cardiac arrest
- Lasting emotional impact
6. Is it possible to scientifically confirm an NDE?
There are no tests that confirm NDEs, but there are thousands of documented reports. Studies, such as those conducted by Raymond Moody and at the University of Virginia, have investigated NDEs for decades. Science studies the effects, but cannot explain the spiritual totality of the experience.
7. When does an NDE happen?
It usually occurs in situations of cardiac arrest, deep coma, serious accidents, or risky surgeries. Even with virtually no brain activity, there are reports of full consciousness, which intrigues medicine.
8. Are all NDEs positive?
No. Some people report harrowing experiences: darkness, feelings of judgment, fear, terrifying voices, or hellish environments. These negative NDEs are also documented and raise profound questions about the soul and eternal destiny.
9. What does the Bible say about experiences after death?
The Bible says there is consciousness after death
(Luke 16:22-31)
Judgment
(Hebrews 9:27)
An eternity in heaven or hell
(John 5:28-29)
Although I don't use the term “NDE”, there are records of visions, spiritual raptures
Revelations from the world beyond
(2 Corinthians 12:2-4)
10. Can an NDE be a calling from God?
Many believe so. People who experience NDEs often return with a strong sense of mission, life transformation, and an intense spiritual quest. In Alan Oliveira's case, the NDE revealed to him the "Healed in Christ" project, a mission based on salvation and evangelization.
11. Was Alan's experience an NDE?
Yes. During a medically induced coma, Alan reports being taken to heavenly places and also to regions of spiritual suffering. The content of his experience is consistent with classic NDE accounts, but goes further: he received messages, saw apostles and angels, and heard God call his name.
12. What was revealed to Alan in the NDE?
Alan lived through three phases:
Vision of eternity and judgment
Spiritual persecution and pain
Return to the body with emotional scars
He saw crowds awaiting judgment, apostles, and was persecuted by demons. He was also used by God, after his coma, to evangelize through his testimony.
13. Is Alan's NDE in agreement with the Bible?
Yes. The reported visions confirm biblical principles such as:
Final Judgment (Revelation 20:12)
“I also saw the dead, small and great, standing before the throne. Then books were opened. Another book was opened, the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, as recorded in the books.”
Spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:12)
“…for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Eternal life (John 3:16)
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
The Power of Witnessing (Revelation 12:11)
“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb.
14. What changes in the life of someone who experiences an NDE?
Yes. Many report profound transformations after an NDE: increased faith, compassion, a shift in values, a reduced fear of death, and a new perspective on the meaning of life. Some people embark on spiritual or social missions after the experience.
Most people go on to:
Value faith more
Seek God with sincerity
Quit addictions and destructive practices
Feeling an urge to share what you saw
Facing death with less fear
15. Are there biblical verses that confirm this type of experience?
Yes. The Bible reports out-of-body spiritual experiences:
Paul speaks of a man caught up to the “third heaven” (2 Corinthians 12:2-4)
Ezekiel and John saw heavenly realities (Ezekiel 1, Revelation 1)
Jesus spoke of life after death with real basis (Luke 16:19-31)
16. How do you know if someone has had an NDE?
Typically, the person shares a profound account, with spiritual details or visions that would not be possible in their clinical condition. Validation includes medical contexts (coma, cardiac arrest) and testimonies that reveal lasting emotional and spiritual impact.
